Mr. Clemmons, educated at the University of Washington in Seattle, and the Kunstgewerbeschule in Basel, joins us from his most recent appointment as graphic designer for genesis, inc., where he was responsible for corporate communication materials for clients ranging from Quaker Oats and Rubbermaid to USRobotics and Gerber. His previous positions, in both the public and private sector, have included work for retailers, software developers and other hi-tech industries, including Aldus (now Adobe Systems, Inc.), Exabyte Corporation, and Schwinn, as well as various arts and entertainment organizations.      Mr. Clemmons has taught graphic design and new media at colleges in the U.S., and has extensively and successfully lectured on design and the internet, both in the U.S. and Europe. Indeed, so scholarly is he in both appearance and behaviour even quite close friends find it difficult not to call him "sir".      His estimate in late 1988 that it would take, at the earliest, until 1999 for him to fill a 20MB hard drive with design work has proven woefully off-the-mark and sheds an alarming sidelight on his abilities as a mathematician.      Thankfully, we prefer to employ him as Director.
