The mobile telephone provider approached us to provide simplified and expandable access to its internal database. With information including such varied subjects as online service, technical information, phones and sale information, their previous system had forced staff to use a variety of programs to access information.     Our site allows access to various databases through one simple interface which can be customized by individual staff members. The site was also built to allow internal staff to maintain and update it, as well as be integrated with the evolving database structure of the company. The site is designed with expandability in mind — both the interface and the database structure will allow for quick porting to Pannons developing inter- and extranets. The initial interface is currently being augmented by a range of other ‘looks’ to allow employees a variety of interfaces ranging from functional to decorative, all maintaining the usability of the preliminary design. We are also currently developing a version of this site for use on mobile web browsers, such as the Nokia Communicator. - Context sensitive help to give staff quick access to appropriate help commands - Dynamic sitemap - Template structure allows staff to manage site with little or no knowledge of html coding - Online search function - User-definable interfaces - Password-protected user settings allow several users to share a single workstation - Variations for cross-browser integration. - ‘On-the-road’ access being developed for use in PDA format
